CUTTING OFF OF UNGODLY SOUL TIES (FOR COUNSELORS)

The concept of Soul Ties comes from David and Jonathan's close relationship as friends, as was described below:

I Samuel 18:1, 3 & 4 ~ "Now it came about when he had finished speaking to Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as himself...Then Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as himself. Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his armor, including his sword and his bow and his belt."

The idea is that when our soul (emotions and thoughts) are closely linked with another, both Godly and Ungodly Soul Ties can be formed.

Godly Soul Ties are the bonds we have with others that draw us closer to God, while Ungodly Soul Ties are the bonds that draw us further away from God.

We have Soul Ties with our parents, children, close friends, spouses and whomever we've had sexual relations with. Whomever we have opened up our emotions to, there exists the possibility of Soul Ties.

Ungodly Soul Ties effect us similar to having a spiritual stronghold: our will, discipline and determination fail us when we try to live a surrendered life in (a) particular area(s) of our life. 

HOW TO CUT OFF UNGODLY SOUL TIES:

1. Examine if there's unforgiveness in our hearts toward the person.

2. Ask God for forgiveness for our relationship/attitude toward the person.

3. Choose to forgive the person with whom we have Ungodly Soul Ties with.

4. PRAY THE "CUTTING THE UNGODLY SOUL TIES PRAYER":

"In Jesus' name, I cut off all Ungodly Soul Ties between me and So and So, so that whatever belongs to me would return to me, and whatever belongs to So and So would return to So and So. (Imagine the soul ties as an umbilical cord between you and the other person. As you cut off the soul ties, imagine the umbilical cord returning/retracting back to each person's belly button). I apply the blood of Christ and the cross of Christ between me and So and So going forward (imagine putting on a seal - as in a wax seal on an envelope - on each person's belly button, so the cords cannot come back out of the belly button to get reattached)."

One would pray this prayer over each and every person one might have formed an Ungodly Soul Tie with, as well as between the other person and whomever else they might have formed an Ungodly Soul Tie with. 

During a counseling session, in order for us to be able to empathize with our clients, we would have had to be open emotionally toward our clients. This prayer can therefore be especially helpful to cut off the Ungodly Soul Ties not just between you and your counselee, but also between you and the significant others the counselee spoke about in the session, with whom you sensed that the counselee had an Ungodly Soul Tie.

Following circumstances might be indications that Ungodly Soul Tie is at work in a counseling session:

• During a counseling session you experience unusually strong induced feelings. 

• Thy Holy Spirit nudges you that something spiritual in going on in the session, i.e., in the middle of the session, the client slinks down the couch onto the floor like a snake, as the topic of spiritual stronghold is being investigated. 

• You sense some physical sensation on your body that came out of nowhere in a counseling session. 

• Two hours or so after a session, you are still unable to shake off feelings induced in the session.

• You dream about your client at night.
